A New Loop at Palos

Having ridden Palos for many years, I’m always intrigued by the myriad of options that await your tread. Loops at Kettle Moraine are well defined, but the “chaotic” nature of the trails at Palos allow you to create your own personal network. I found myself favoring the Yellow loop with a detour down Old Country Lane (starting at the MTB staging area).  This loop was about 9 miles, but I was looking for something a little longer.

It seems no matter how much I ride the Orange Loop, I’m reminded how horrendous these trails are. CAMBr does a nice job trying to maintain them, but they always seem eroded, in bad shape, and covered with helmetless Troy Lee wannabes.   I did find a nice route taking Stair Steps to the Pipeline, which brings my new loop to 12 miles.  This addition is a blast, because you can really fly down the Pipeline.  Plus, the trails tend to be drier and in better shape than the rest of Orange Loop.  There are also fewer riders.

See my new loop on the CAMBr Palos map below.
